History
Library service began in Tualatin in 1974 with a donated book collection in the Community Center. In 1976, a local women’s extension group borrowed a book van from the Washington County Cooperative Library Services and opened for business in the K-Mart parking lot. By 1977, the city appropriated funds to operated the Tualatin Public Library from a small house. Then in 1985, the library moved into an 8,500 square feet Civic Center complex.
A 2004 bond measure provided funds to expand the library. Groundbreaking took place in April 2007, and the $9.4 million, 22,500 square foot City library expansion was completed in July, 2008.
Our current collection of over 70,000 items contributes to an annual circulation of over 600,000 items.
